Paint Protection Film · Certified PPF Installer
Paint Protection Film Johannesburg.
Self-healing paint protection film — XPEL Ultimate Plus and STEK DYNOshield — installed as a certified PPF installer in our dust-controlled Kempton Park studio. Stone chips, swirl marks and road rash — stopped before they ever touch your paint.

What PPF actually protects against
Paint Protection Film is a 200-micron optically-clear urethane film with a self-healing top coat. It is a physical barrier: stone chips off a bakkie on the N1, gravel on the R55 to Hartbeespoort, trolley strikes at Sandton City, sharp fingernails around the door handles — the film takes the impact, and light scratches self-heal with warmth from the sun or hot water. Unlike a ceramic coating, which is chemical protection, PPF stops damage before it reaches your clear coat, and it is genuinely the only product that will keep a Ferrari, McLaren, Bentley or Rolls-Royce front end looking factory after two years of Johannesburg daily driving.
The value calculation is simple. Repainting a Ferrari 296 front clam runs six figures and often shows up on a Carfax. A full-front XPEL Ultimate Plus install is a fraction of that, and it is removable and re-installable when the film reaches end of life. Combined with an Innova ceramic coating over the film and the rest of the car, PPF is the single most protective thing you can do to a high-value vehicle in Gauteng.
XPEL & STEK PPF installation for Sandton, Hyde Park and Bryanston
PPF only looks good if the paint underneath is right and the edges are hidden. Every XPEL Ultimate Plus and STEK DYNOshield install at D2 Customs starts with a wash, decontamination and — where the paint needs it — a paint correction stage so the film is applied over a defect-free finish. Panels are computer-cut with pre-plotted patterns for the specific chassis, then hand-wrapped around edges wherever the panel geometry allows so there is no visible film line. The car cures in the studio for 48 hours before release, and every install is registered to the VIN for the 10-year manufacturer warranty — the same certified PPF installer standard our Sandton, Hyde Park and Bryanston clients rely on.

- What is PPF and how is it different to a ceramic coating?
- Paint Protection Film is a 200-micron self-healing urethane film physically bonded to the paint. It absorbs stone chips, scratches and road rash before they reach the clear coat. A [ceramic coating](/services/ceramic-coating-johannesburg) is a thin chemical layer for gloss, UV and hydrophobics — it will not stop a stone chip on the N1. Most of our clients run both.
- Which PPF brands do you install?
- We install XPEL Ultimate Plus and STEK DYNOshield — both premium, manufacturer-warranted films. We are trained installers on both systems and register every install to the chassis number for the 10-year warranty.
- Full-front, track pack or full-body PPF — what should I get?
- For most Johannesburg daily luxury cars (Cayenne, DBX, G-Class, Range Rover, 992 daily) full-front — bonnet, front bumper, front fenders, mirrors, headlights, A-pillars — is the sweet spot. Cars that see Kyalami, Killarney or long-distance highway (Ferrari GT, McLaren, Porsche GT) benefit from a track pack that adds rockers and rear arches. Full-body is standard on Bespoke and PTS colour cars where resale finish matters.
- How long does PPF last, and does it yellow?
- Modern XPEL and STEK films carry a 10-year warranty against yellowing, cracking, lifting and delamination. In the Highveld sun we routinely see 8–10 years of usable service life on garaged cars.
- How much does PPF cost in Johannesburg?
- PPF is priced from R12,000 for a partial front kit up to R45,000+ for full-body coverage on a large exotic. The variables are film brand, panel count, wrap complexity and whether correction is required first. Written quote after inspection.
