The Paint Correction Guide (South Africa)
Paint correction is the process that transforms a dull, swirl-marked luxury car back to the depth and clarity it had leaving the factory — or better. It's the single most misunderstood service in the industry. This pillar page is our long-form answer to every correction question we get at the Johannesburg studio.

What paint correction is (and isn't)
Paint correction is controlled machine polishing that removes a few microns of clear coat to level the surface around swirls, holograms, wash marks and light scratches until light reflects evenly again. It is not a wash, a polish-in-a-bottle, or a wax. Done right and measured with a paint depth gauge, the finish looks better than new.
One-stage, two-stage or full multi-stage?
A single-stage enhancement is right for a nearly-new car with light marring. A two-stage correction is the standard on a luxury car a few years old, or a used purchase heading straight into a ceramic coating. A full multi-stage correction is reserved for exotics, concours prep, or paint that's been abused by automatic car washes for years.
What it costs in South Africa (honestly)
Correction is priced by time on the machine, not by panel count. A single-stage enhancement typically runs a few thousand rand; a two-stage correction on a luxury sedan runs into five figures; a multi-day multi-stage on an exotic can be higher again. The full breakdown — including what changes the price and what doesn't — is in our paint correction cost guide.
Protecting the result
The smartest move after correction is to lock the finish in under a professional ceramic coating or paint protection film. Otherwise your next few automatic washes will start undoing the work. We bundle correction with protection in our detailing packages.
